It’s so nice to meet you! Thank you for stopping in. I hope you’ll stay a while. I look forward to knowing you better. As for me, I’m on a wonderfully crazy adventure through a not-so-ordinary life. Just as my husband promised when we wed, there’s never a dull moment! In this season, I’m on journey to learn more about “The Wife of Noble Character.” Ah yes, the Proverbs 31 Woman.
I confess, and I’m sure this one of many shortcomings I’ll have to bare to you along the way… I used to brush this figure off thinking she was only meant to be an example for the women who work hard full-time IN the home making everything from scratch, shining as crafting gurus, home schooling their children, etc. I’m surrounded many of these awesome ladies, and they are A-MAZING, but at the end of the day, that’s not my life. I’m a working girl who spends a minimum of forty hours a week in the office, and I actually love it! So I’ve toiled with questions of whether or not I’m in the right place, whether or not I’m pursuing the right path in higher education, whether or not my pursuit of a professional occupation should continue, whether God would be glorified to a higher degree if I wasn’t employed full time.
I’m a very… passionate person. My husband and I love that adjective because it rolls off the tongue a little sweeter than stubborn and hard headed, though the latter are true as well. Recently the Lord called me back to this passage to reveal His truths in a different light. He asked me to stop analyzing MY path and spend more time looking at Him. He’s even had me out of bed in the middle of the night reading Scripture in my closet, re-reading Proverbs 31 over and over, dissecting each line, researching alternate meanings of words and scrutinize their significance (yes, I’m a habitual student, a bit of a nerd in that sense.) As it turns out, this Scripture is much larger than the little box I tried to stuff it into. My light bulb moment: This passage is for me. Actually, it’s for all of us. Our Heavenly Father designed a unique life for each of us so that He would be honored and glorified among the nations in so many different ways.
I’m ready to have a ball on this journey toward the heart of God while seeking a better understanding of the P31 Woman. My pursuit will be honest and purposeful. At the same time, I proceed with a good sense of humor and a child-like heart. If you’re reading this hoping to gleam great wisdom of the ages, I apologize you had to read through my ramblings to find that you’re in the wrong place. I plan to learn from Scripture and the many wonderful women I’m surrounded by, and I imagine most of my successes will be attributed to their wisdom. I’ll be transparent in the process, so I ask for your forgiveness in advance for anything less than lovely. I’m prepared to laugh at myself, to pick myself up when I fall, and I promise not to take my toys and go home when things don’t go my way.
If you’re following, please comment and share your thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc. Let’s go through this together!
So, my beautiful friends, I welcome you to join me in pursuit of Proverbs 31 living with an eight to five.
Blessings to you!
